About this event base

Itasca Creek RV Park is a 100-site RV community in Itasca, Texas that opened in April 2024, located 3 minutes off I-35W on FM 67. Its position in Hill County puts it within easy reach of a full year of Central Texas events: community gatherings and markets in Itasca and Hillsboro, lake and outdoor recreation at Lake Whitney (a day trip to the west), and the larger corridor calendar between Fort Worth and Waco, which are each about 45 miles away. Every site has a concrete pad, a patio, and full hookups, and most site types add a fenced yard, with a pool, dog park, private showers, and laundry on-site: a practical, quiet base for event travelers who would rather park the rig once and enjoy the weekend.

Why stay here for events

Stay close to the action. Come back to a better site.

The best part of an event weekend is often the drive back afterward: windows down, the noise fading, a quiet site waiting with your chairs right where you left them. Itasca Creek sits near Hillsboro, midway between Fort Worth and Waco, close enough to reach the action and far enough that the evening still belongs to you.

  • Easy interstate access: on and off I-35W in about 3 minutes on FM 67, so late arrivals and early mornings stay simple.
  • A predictable home base: spacious concrete pads, private patios, and full hookups mean the same comfortable site waiting for you every night of the weekend.
  • Fenced yards plus an on-site dog park, so guests can bring the dog to an event weekend without extra logistics.
  • A pool, private showers, and laundry to reset between long days out.
  • Central to the corridor: Fort Worth and Waco are each about 45 miles away, with Hillsboro just down the interstate.
  • Quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, so the park stays restful even when the region is busy.
  • Check-in is 2:00 PM at the office (arriving after 5 PM? Please call ahead). Check-out is 12:00 noon, and the park team will guide you to your site when you arrive.

Four kinds of event weekends near the park

Local community events near Itasca & Hillsboro

Small-town Texas keeps a full calendar: courthouse-square gatherings, seasonal markets, civic celebrations, and county fairgrounds events around Itasca and Hillsboro. They come back every year, so check the local calendar for this year's dates.

Lake & outdoor seasonal weekends at Lake Whitney

From spring through summer, Lake Whitney draws boaters, anglers, and holiday-weekend crowds to its state park and marinas. It is the outdoor anchor of the area, a day trip west of the park.

Lake Whitney summer events

Corridor motorsports & regional gatherings

The Fort Worth–Waco corridor hosts big-draw weekends year-round, including drag-racing season at the Texas Motorplex in nearby Ennis. Itasca Creek works as a calmer base than event-area lots when the whole region fills up.

Family gatherings, reunions & weddings

Guests attending a reunion, wedding, graduation, or milestone in Central Texas often prefer their own RV to a packed hotel. Fenced sites and a quiet setting make multi-day family events far easier.

Reunions & family events

Corridor motorsports weekends

A calmer base for race weekends in the corridor

The Fort Worth–Waco corridor is motorsports country. The Texas Motorplex in nearby Ennis, one of the country's premier drag strips, runs a full racing season, including national-caliber drag-racing weekends that draw fans from across the region. Race dates change every year, so check this season's schedule with the track before you book.

From the park, the Texas Motorplex is in Ennis, to the northeast, and the broader Fort Worth motorsports scene is about 45 miles north on I-35W. Instead of a crowded event-area lot, you get a quiet, fenced site with full hookups to return to after a long, loud day at the strip, then an easy morning back out to the next round.

What weekend guests say

Reviews from guests who have stayed with us, in their own words.

"Family of four stayed for a weekend while visiting friends! We really enjoyed it!! It was easy to book, right off the highway, friendly staff, friendly neighbors, easy to locate, and great sized lots. We loved the concrete pads, new asphalt, gated fences (optional), and carport (optional). You all have the option for Wi-Fi which was a bonus but we had perfect 5G AT&T so we didn't even use it! There is a park down the street as well as family dollar and dollar general. In the next towns over are Walmart, bucees and Starbucks. We loved the little pool they had because our 3 year old could stand up in the shallow end. It was peaceful and quiet, we will definitely return for another weekend, even if our friends aren't there. It's a quiet, small town vibe with cows as your neighboring lot."

"Itasca Creek RV Park is clean and quiet. Level, concrete pullthru site for an overnight stay was perfect. They also have a big selection of unique sites with fencing that looks perfect for dogs. Lots of campers choosing those! Not very far off the interstate but far enough to be quiet. Totally recommend! We will be back!"
Kristine Smoley September 2025
"Itasca Creek RV Park was one of my top five favorite places to stay. Very friendly people. They had a space for us just before closing time. The bathrooms and showers were immaculately clean. They even had covered and fenced spots if we wanted one. My only regret was that we didn't have more time to stay. I'll be back again on other trips."
Shawn Schulte September 2025
"Found this gem of an RV park on Google. We were passing through from Houston to Denver. Just so nice to find a clean and well planned out park for our overnight stop. Bill was there to meet us at the entrance, and to my husband's delight (and mine), he escorted us directly to our concrete pull through spot. (Usually my job is to get out and jog in front of the RV and lead him to the spot). We did not use the amenities but were happy with what we saw. It's quiet and just about 2 miles from 35 - easy on and off. Sonic by freeway. If we are passing through again, we will definitely stay again! Look them up on Google and make your reservation!"
Thad & Sylvia Gailey Traveling couple 2025
"Best RV park we've ever stayed in, even better than some KOA laces we've stayed in. Loved the gated yards especially because of our dogs. The laundry/bathroom facilities were always perfectly spotless. The staff is amazing and went above and beyond for us. If I were to continue living in my rv, I would definitely go back."
Kathryn Snyder 2025
"We stayed for 3 months at this great park. They have wonderful amenities that are kept up daily. They have clean showers and laundry room. The park is wide open, great for just getting some steps in. I'm a remote worker and WiFi is fast! The sunrises and sunsets are always beautiful. We have a dog so it was nice to let him run around within the fenced in lot we had. And also they have a dog park which if they need more leg room they have it. The staff are wonderful people that will help in any sort of which way, as with the community. Thank you for the stay!!"

Event-stay FAQ

Event questions, answered

Is Itasca Creek RV Park a good place to stay for local events?
Yes. The park is well-positioned for guests attending local and regional events who want easy interstate access and a quieter, more comfortable place to stay. It sits 3 minutes off I-35W on FM 67, a short drive from Hillsboro and about 45 miles from both Fort Worth and Waco, so a wide slice of the corridor's event calendar is within an easy drive.
What kinds of event travelers is this park good for?
It works well for race fans, family-event travelers, festival- and market-goers, reunion and wedding guests, and couples planning a weekend around a specific destination like Lake Whitney. Fenced yards and an on-site dog park also make it easy to bring the dog along for an event weekend.
Why stay here instead of closer to the event venue?
If you prefer a calmer RV experience, you get fenced sites, full hookups, and on-site amenities instead of crowded or limited event-area options. When a festival, race, or reunion fills the immediate area, Itasca Creek gives you a predictable site to return to, quiet hours from 10 PM, and quick I-35W access for the drive to and from the venue.
How far is the park from Lake Whitney, Hillsboro, and the Texas Motorplex?
Lake Whitney is a day trip to the west. Hillsboro and its historic courthouse square are a short drive down I-35W. The Texas Motorplex is in Ennis, northeast of the park. Fort Worth and Waco are each about 45 miles away on I-35W.
When are the biggest event weekends here?
Timing shifts year to year, so treat this as a guide and confirm current dates on local calendars. Broadly, community events and markets cluster in spring and fall, lake and outdoor traffic peaks from late spring through summer and holiday weekends, and corridor motorsports run through the racing season. Book early for any of these weekends, especially if you want a fenced or premium site.
What does a site cost for an event weekend?
Nightly rates start from $50, and weekly rates start from $250. The park is pet friendly. Call (254) 266-2344 to confirm current rates and availability for your dates.
